The Alberta Party is cautiously optimistic about the UCP decision to resume regular classes in September.  The UCP must come up with adequate resources to ensure a healthy and safe place to work and learn.

Tyler Shandro has shown himself either incapable or unwilling to work with doctors and other health care professionals. He has no business leading the Ministry of Health. It is well past time for Premier Kenney to fire Tyler Shandro and bring competent, professional leadership into the role.

“Throughout this pandemic, I’ve heard from a lot of doctors. These are driven, talented small business owners who have undertaken gruelling and expensive training to care for their patients. And they are demoralized. Risking their lives in a pandemic is tough enough. They shouldn’t also need to face constant, aggressive, misleading, inappropriate attacks from the Minister of Health.”

Our Legislature is broken. Our two party system is not creating productive debate which furthers the interests of Albertans. This is typified by Bill 30: Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2024.

Acting Alberta Party Leader, Jacquie Fenske:

”Bill 30 misses an opportunity to create a health care system that is focused on patient outcomes. There are elements in the bill that show promise, but also things that need more scrutiny to ensure the strengths of the current system are maintained.”

The Alberta Party welcomes today’s decision by the Supreme Court of Canada to prevent further delays of the Trans Mountain pipeline. However, Alberta needs more options if it is to have a thriving oil and gas industry in the decades to come.
